Mailbox Fell Over: Update!
Damn! I was foiled!
The USPS is here to replace the box before the mail man gets here. Arrrrrr!!!
Damn! I was foiled!
The USPS is here to replace the box before the mail man gets here. Arrrrrr!!!
Our mailbox fell over today. The wind, and the added rain from the past 24 hours has weekend it to the point of falling over at a sneeze. *LOL* Supposedly they are coming to fix it today, but we doubt that. You can't even put the mail in the box. Unless, of course, you pick it up and turn it over. I'm curious to see how the mail man will react to this. A video maybe? *thinking* Kind of like a candid camera shot. Hmmm... Will see if I can capture his/her reaction to it.
I'm not sure when I started having this problem. The last time I used anything USB was about 3 to 6 months ago. Windows shows all the USB related devices working properly. Yet when I plug something USB in, it will not auto find it, and mount it. Any hints? Anyone? Because, I've already put back my old BIOS, and then reflashed it with the new BIOS and nothing. I even made another user account to see if it was something that was cached, or corrupted, but nothing. My only choice now is to remove all the USB devices, and let it refind it all. I'm hoping that will fix it.
I removed the USB devices, and let windows refind them after reboot. It fixed my issue. Seems the drivers got corrupted, or screwed somehow. Yah! It's fixed!
Migraine... Yes, another one. Woke up with it this morning. PAIN! That makes three this month. This is not normal... *sighs*
I'm now officially under weight. Understandable, since I have a lack of appetite from my meds and nausea to boot. I'm having difficulty keeping any food down.
In other more interesting news, I am getting my new camera today. The Canon PowerShot A85. I'm really looking forward to it. I will post some pics, and maybe a movie from it when I get it. BTW, the FEDEX delivery woman that comes to our door to make deliveries now, is a little hotty. Makes getting any packages quite a thrill. *hehe*
I have the Monday 'blahs'. You know, you usually get it on Sunday dreading going back to work on Monday. *sighs* Even though I work seven days a week.
I got sick to my stomach today from my antibiotic. Wasn't good. I hate getting sick to my stomach. I always get nauseated from oral antibiotics. Maybe I just have a week stomach. *shrugs*
Just moping around listening to Ani Difranco's album "To The Teeth". I have to say my favorite song off this album is "Soft Shoulder". It gives me goosebumps. I find that I can listen to it over, and over again.
I don't keep much stuff around
I value my portability
but I will say that I have saved
every letter you ever wrote to me
the one you left on my windsheild
outside of that little motel
is in the pocket of my old gigbag
from back when life was more soft shelled
letters littered with little lewd pictures
drawn by the ghost of Woddy Guthrie
who would use your big thick hand
just to draw one two for me
and I think of your letters as love letters
which is how I think of songs
in that it is the writing of them
that tend to carry us along
and I dance to one of your old tunes
with my true love on our wedding day
and your voice sang the way my heart would sing
if it finally knew just what to say
two people pulled over on the same night
to look up at the same stars
they both found their wheels were spinning
in a soft shoulder
when they got back into their cars
and they missed fate's appointed rendezvous
and then a whole lotta time went by
and finally they were done
worshipping the landscape
and they put down their hands
and moved into the sky
and they had barely said hello
and it was time to say goodbye
Woohoo! Not that it's good seing as I work 7 days a week. *LOL* Anyway, I'm feeling a little better today. Maybe I'm just getting use to the meds. Went out for a Starbucks Caramel Machiato. Mmmm... Yummy! Stopped and picked up some milk (1%). Got to have MILK! Milk does the body good. OK. Enough milk slogans.
Now it's time to run upstairs and find something to eat. Stomach growling like a lion, and all.
I'm feeling so sick today from my meds. OMG! Why do they have to be so strong? I was up and down all night long. (Fell asleep, then woke up.) I kept my wifey up most of this morning with it. Although, she didn't mind too much. She knows it's the meds. screwing with me. Christ in a hand basket! I actually felt better before I started taking meds. WTF?
Me thinks I need a swear jar?
NOTE: There is an update to the STSN.com entry.
OH, BTW, I am only keeping three entries open at a time from now on.
Went to my doctors apt. today. I have a sinus infection (sinusitis). I am on antibiotics now, and a strong decongestant. Hmmm... I'm medicated.
Anyway, I will be adding another update to the STSN.com entry. The Admin wrote back again. My response back to his email will come shortly, or at least sometime today. *shrugs*
Here is the first screenshot of DoW... My guys are get'in some!
This is from the first campaign. And I have just finished the 2nd campaign. No losses, or replays. Woohoo!
Warhammer Dawn of War.. Woohoo! I have the full version. I purchased it today at Best Buy for $39.99 ($10 off). Yah! Can't wait to install it and look at what's new and different from the beta. Hopefully it won't be as buggy gui wise. I will try to figure out (after install) how to do a screenshot, and I will put it up. Otherwise, I will just load up HoverSnap (freeware beta) and do a screenshot that way.
aa1a.jpg above... This is a small resize of the actual screen shot. I was practising on my own with bots, which you can do without going online. You can even set them to fire upon you.
Edit: I told you NOT to link directly to my images. Image removed.
I'm in the middle of testing MT-Blacklist on my personal webserver for dealing with MovableType comment spammers. It's really annoying me that I have to waste more time dealing with this than I should. I'm hoping this will help some. This list/plugin won't be live here (cerebraldump.com) till we are sure this is something we want, and will work well.
Did my Admin work for the day... Now I'm reading the Sunday comics, and sipping coffee. Debating a game maybe. Listening to some Radioslave.

My response to that... Sent....
I added "NOSPAM" on to the email addresses to keep them from being collected and used by spammers.

Dear Abuse Team,
I am reporting a webblog spammer from your services before this gets out of hand. Please see that your user stops & refrains from posting on my weblog. The post is below with the corresponding IP of the poster. See that it stops.
BEGIN WEBLOG SPAM:
IP Address: 126.96.36.199
Name: Party Poker
Email Address: firstname.lastname@example.org

Below is our standard abuse complaint response, which does apply (it is
impossible to determine which of our guests was translated to
188.8.131.52 historically). However, even if we could track down this
guest, I am unclear what it is you would expect us to do. It appears as
though your site allows anyone to post information; i.e., a username and
password or other security mechanism for posts does not seem to be
implemented. Kindly illuminate me on what your expectations would be.
STSN (http://www.stsn.com) is an Internet provider for the hospitality
industry. The majority of our customers use our broadband Internet
service from hotel rooms. Most abuse complaints stem from guests
[usually unknowingly] attempting to relay viruses through our SMTP
gateways, sending unsolicited bulk e-mail, or performing port scans on
foreign networks. While these activities do violate our acceptable terms
of use policies, and we do put forth the effort to block ports of
offending users when we're lucky enough to catch them, it is difficult
for us to track these users at times because of the short-term nature of
their connections. Additionally, public IP addresses being reported as
abusive by third-parties are droplets in large pools of translated
addresses, with very small timeout values (five minutes). In other
words, unless we can be alerted to abusive actions by our customers in
real-time, there is not much we can do to combat the problem.
Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

The fact that I allow people to comment and post on my sight does not give 'said' user the right to spam it with advertisements for part poker, and penis enlargement. This is the equivalent to unsolicited email. I didn't ask for it. The fact that I accept email does not give 'said' user the right to send me unsolicited garbage.
What I want is the user to stop spamming my comments with advertisements/spam. Below is another example of more shit your users are posting.
IP Address: 184.108.40.206
Name: Payday Loans
Email Address: email@example.com
http://www.americacashfast.com/ - Payday Loans
Was I a little harsh, well, yes. I mean, all he had to do was send back their generic response and nothing more. I would have gladly moved on and proceeded with blocking the IPs from posting to my weblog as they happen. No sweat off my back. Instead... He comes off argumentative, as if I am doing something wrong by notifying him that his users are spamming. I was clear that I wanted 'said' spammer to stop & refrain with my initial letter of complaint. Most ISPs have abuse policies for spam, right? If that is so, why ask me what I wish to see come of 'it'?
Further Response From STSN.com:
From: firstname.lastname@example.orgNOSPAM Subject: RE: ::Re: blog spammer Date: September 22, 2004 2:07:05 AM EDT To: email@example.comNOSPAM
While I agree that the "unsolicited garbage" is wrong and the person(s)
responsible is the human equivalent of sour milk, the nature of a public
network [the Internet] spawns transient users, and I would contend that
a public Web site allowing anyone to post information is closer to
"asking for trouble" than receiving unsolicited e-mail. If you allow
the public postings, in my opinion, you're looking at taking the good
with the bad, as no ISP is going to take action for someone planting
off-topic information (regardless of intent) in an essentially public
forum. Now, if it were an "electronic thing" grazing for postable Web
site pages and littering on everything it finds, that would be more
grounds to justify action by the offending hosts' ISP.
How many times does this happen to your site? Do you think you are the
victim of a vindictive/adolescent person(s), or does the "electronic
attack" seem more feasible? Incidentally, the two incidents you've
pointed out are coming from the Orlando, FL area (as evidenced by the
DNS PTR records).
P.S. The opinions expressed in this message are my own, and not
necessarily those of my employer, STSN.

That's fine. You may contend all you like. You have informed me that STSN.com has no clue as to who the individual spammer is, so my only resolve is to block IPs & use a Blacklist. We are not talking about off-topic postings here. We are talking about spam for payday loans, penis enlargement, party poker, etc. Spam under any definition.
"How many times does this happen to your site?" ... One too many. A victim? No. Attack? No. I am merely informing you, and asking that you have 'said' user(s) stop spamming me. That is all. I don't care what state the spammer comes from. That is your concern as Administrator, and for you as an Administrator to deal with on your end.
No further response from you or STSN.com is needed. Your initial standard complaint response was good enough to let me know that I should just be blocking the IPs from STSN.com. Good day.
I've updated to 1GB of memory for my PC. I'm hoping it will help with PC gaming and 3D rendering a bit. I'm sure it will.
Also, I got a 200GB external Firewire/USB2.0 drive to backup both my MAC and PC to, and for Pictures, Video, 3D & 2D stuff. This stuff usually eats up a lot of disk space. And it's good to have an external drive you can plug in, in a hurry.
Right now I am backing up my iBook system to disk. I haven't done one in months. Check that. I haven't done one since I sent it in for warranty repair. Time for one. So that is now running.
I'm waiting for my Gameboy Advance to finish charging. I have a cobalt blue one, which is quite cool. And I'm smoking a cigar... Comacho ($4.90)... I'm not happy with the wrapper...
Went to visit an old friend in Mt. Airy, Pennsylvania today. Hadn't seen her in months, and it was nice to see her and chat for a while.
I updated my ABIT IS7 bios yesterday. Backed it up, then flashed it with the new one. Everything seems to be ok, but booting is a bit slower. Oh well.
Windows Movie Maker is acting hoaky. I can't even create a new project. And for some reason I get an error saving my movie to a .wmv file. With no reason as to why I am getting the error. "An error occured. Please try again." *shrugs* What the hell does this mean? Guess this will have to wait till I update to SP2 to fix, hopefully. Hmmm... Will check P2P for it...
Listening to my iPod... Neil Young...
Drinking a Amstel Light... Mmmmm...
Still feel like crap....
Bad migraine today... That's two this month... And I'm feeling bad like I'm fighting something. If I still feel this bad on Monday I will be seeing the DR then. *sighs*
I've been playing around with the demo of Vue 4, which has turned out to be quite useful. Although, I've encountered one crash and some gui quirkiness. Here is a sample scene I created with it.
Virus writers have created a piece of malware that 'talks' to victims. The Amus email worm uses Windows Speech Engine (which is built-in to Windows XP) to deliver a curious message to infected users.
The message reads: "How are you. I am back. My name is mister hamsi. I am seeing you. Haaaaaaaa. You must come to turkiye. I am cleaning your computer. 5. 4. 3. 2. 1. 0. Gule. Gule." ("Gule. Gule" is Turkish for "Bye. Bye". "Hamsi" is a small fish, like an anchovy, found in the Black Sea). Finnish anti-virus firm F-Secure has posted a sound file generated by the message here.
The rest of the nonpersonal pictures are up for Block Island September 2004.
Having a slow Monday, which is very weird. Usually my Mondays are jam packed with work. Happy for it though in a way.
I'm rendering 3D, and animations. While waiting on that I am listening to music, and reading. Still feeling like crap.
Thank God! *sighs* Way too much travel for me. The Birthday party went well, and Mom loves her new iPod. We went to our friends art gallery showing, and it was very nice. The trip went well, but I'm so sick and tired of travelling.
On another note, I am sick. I'm not sure what is wrong with me. Since coming back from BI I've been feeling REALLY run down and tired. I have this weird constant headache that I think is sinus related... My sinuses are actiing up, but I'm not stuffy or congested. Ugh... I'm hoping that after a few days this will pass.
Ugh! As soon as we get back we have to travel again. This time we are driving to Upstate N.Y. for my Mother in-law's Birthday. We are going to setup her new iPod for her. Also, while there, on Sunday we will be going to a friend of my 'wife's' art gallery that is showing her art at 2pm. Hopefully we will come home after that, if we don't stay too late. I have a feeling we are going to be stuck there till Monday.
I am so tired of travelling...
There are some pictures up that I took at BI on MyPhotoblog link above. Be sure to check them out. Also, there are more to put up, but will do that when I get back from this trip.
That was some trip... Just got back home, and I am dead tired. Hung out at Club Soda last night to say bye to some Island friends, which was fun. Had some snacks. Onion rings and a rack of babyback ribs. Mmmmm... Junk food! It was a wonderful vacation week, and would love to do it again. Now to catch up on some backed up work. *rolls eyes* Yuck! Anyway, I should have some pictures up soon to look at. For now here is a sample picture in a popup link.
Woke up around 9am today, and had some coffee, then went online and did my Admin work. Yesterday we said goodbye to some family, and it's pretty quiet now. Only us three, and three other family members. Anyway, yesterday we went to the beach. Came home and showered and went out for drinks at Club Soda. Had pizza at the bar. Today is partly cloudy, so we might go biking. Maybe do some shopping in town. We have to pick up a few supplies, and hit the book store.
Getting ready for the beach around 1pm, then after the whole family is going to go to Club Soda for snacks and drinks. After that we will come home for some homemade chilli. Yummm!
Didn't blog yesterday at all. As a matter of fact, I didn't go on the net AT ALL. It felt good not to have to go on the net. I took the day off. Went to the beach... Hung out with family... Read my book... Drank some beer... Went out to eat... Took more pictures... Overall I had a wonderful time.
I'm here after a long drive to Port Judith. And I'm in the Island FREE library on their wireless network. I got absolutely NO sleep the night before, and haven't even napped yet. I can't. If I do I will fall sleep till tomorrow, or I will wake up and NOT be able to fall back asleep. I took some pictures of the ride up, but I'm not sure if they came out good. As soon as I look at those I will know. I'm SO tired.
Block Island - Be sure to check out my Photoblog link for more BI pictures.
Made some homemade blueberry pancakes this morning. They came out good.
Now I'm getting packed up, and running errands to take care of some things before we leave. Remembering laptop, books, iPod, camera, cell phone, oh and clothes *laughs*.
